Alliance Software Inc. launched this year’s Alliance Leader Program from January 17 to June 21, 2019 which aims to benefit its leading professionals. The training program focuses in developing effective leadership among supervisors, managers and project leads.

The six month-long training was led and managed by Mr. Trond Varlid, Program Director of the JMEC Business Training Program based in Tokyo. Over the past few months, the participants of the program analyzed unique business cases and created resolutions. The individual coaching sessions and round-table discussions also developed the participants' decision-making strategies in carrying plans forward and identifying problems.

Mr. Varlid has extensive international marketing and senior executive experience from Europe, the U.S. and Asia.

His career spans 15 years in corporate banking in London and Tokyo, two years as Japan country manager for an Asian online wealth management company based in Singapore, and 7 years as President of Tomra Japan—an environmental technology joint venture between Sumitomo Corporation and Tomra, a pioneer and global market leader in sorting technology for materials recycling.

He is the President and Co-Founder of EMC Quest K.K., helping business professionals in Tokyo become better presenters and communicators.

Speaking at the culmination program held last 12 August 2019, Mr. Varlid emphasized the need to drive change for the benefit of the team and the organization.

"Your title makes you a manager; your people make you a leader. In other words, you need to earn the respect of your team and other people around you," Mr. Varlid said. "Ultimately, leadership is about making a difference to help your team members learn and grow as people and professionals. I hope you go out there every day, inspire action, help your team be successful and make a difference. Be a leader." he added.
